working fire in Chicago

Here are some images from a working fire in the 4600 block of West Altgeld in Chicago on Sunday morning (11/11). The fire was contained to the attic. Unfortunately this was an occupied home and several family members, including children, were left homeless by this incident. Companies were Battalion 7, Engine 91, Truck 58, Engine 7, Truck 35, Squad 2, Battalion 8 RIT with Truck 53.

Chicago’s 19th Battalion had a working fire this morning (Sunday, 6/24) at 7241 S. Sangamon. The fire came in at 5:45 and Engine 54 landed a short time later with a fire on the first floor. I arrived just in time to catch companies washing down. While the rear attic window was being laddered, a mother pitbull and 5 of her puppies came charging out the back door. Thankfully, all were friendly and didn’t seem at all bothered by the work going on around them.

Took in a  job in Chicago’s fire prone 11th battalion at 8230 W. Berwyn Avenue 2/10/18. Pretty cut and dried but it appeared they hit two frozen hydrants (not sure … judging by my obervations alone). This job was 1/2 block from a good working fire on the same street about two weeks ago. Heavy snow made travel and parking on the side streets difficult and hydrants were pretty much buried in snow as well.  I was able to shoot a little use of the stripping ladder … not something you can usually see from the street.

All the images and a quick video can be seen here:

Chicago’s Battalion 22 had a working fire at 618 E 104th Street Sunday (1/17) just after 1100 hours, when Engine 93 landed with a substantial working fire.  Companies reported fire through the roof shortly after arrival.  Temperatures hovered slightly above zero.

Chicago’s Battalion 22 had a working fire at 618 E 104th Street just after 0600 hours on Sunday morning (1/17).  The fire was in the basement and it appeared to be out relatively quick.  Just after 1100 hours, Engine 93 landed with a substantial working fire at the same address.  Companies reported fire through the roof shortly after arrival.  Temperatures hovered slightly above zero for both incidents.
