Southington 3rd alarm 315 Main St. Vacant commercial building

06/15/16 Southington, CT – An early evening fire tore through a vacant commercial building shortly after six p.m. Firefighters found heavy smoke showing from a one and two-story, ordinary constructed building. An interior attack was attempted, but firefighters were unable to make headway. An exterior operation was initiated using one tower and multiple hand lines to darken down the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown and being investigated. There were no injuries.

Another busy weekend for the Gary Fire Department.  This was at the corner of 43rd and Georgia Street and was a one-story grocery store.  As you can see in the third image, water pressure became an issue at one point.  Lake Ridge was brought in as an additional engine company so that other Gary resources could remain in place.  While this was an active incident, Engine 8 had a brush fire on the opposite side of town.  Gary companies working this incident were Engines 9 and 5, Truck 2 and Squad 2.

I took in this restaurant fire in Gary, Indiana on Saturday afternoon (8/30).  The fire was at 47th and Broadway and I was lucky enough to be at 35th and Broadway when the tones went out.  The fire started in the kitchen and was quickly brought under control.  Before anyone asks, the man in the civilian clothing was the owner and that image was taken within the first minute of companies arriving.  He moved away seconds later.  If you were to have arrived five minutes later, there would have been nothing to see.  The last image is of Engine 5, which is the newest engine in their fleet.
