Last night Battalion 19 got a run for a working fire @ 5845 s Carpenter. Engine 116 arrived to find a 2-sty RED-X gray-stone with heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor. 116 deck gunned it on arrival, and lead out two 2.5s along with Engines 84 and 50. Crews were defensive for a while and then made entry to mop up and hit hot spots. The full gallery is on our site

Chicago Engine Co. 38 landed with a fire in a vacant 3-sty “Red X” building at 1259 S Homan Ave. They had heavy fire throughout the rear of the building and extending up to the third floor. Battalion 14 requested a Still & Box and transitioned the companies to go defensive. Tower 14 & Squad 1 used their master streams and pretty much knocked most of the fire. Engine 23 fed Squad 1 from the rear, and Engine 44 fed Tower 14 from the front.

Had a great opportunity to shoot the reserve Chicago Tower Ladder 39 at a still and box alarm this morning (5/7/16) at 59th and Carpenter.  The fire was in a red x building and appeared to have started in back porches, which were fully involved when I arrived.  Companies were defensive from the start. Here are some images from a Still & Box Alarm in Chicago that came in shortly after 4:00 pm on Thursday (7/2).  The structure was on the 500 block of South Millard and was a vacant “Red X” building.  Battalion 13 reported he had a large volume of smoke coming from the second floor and was concerned about communication to the “D” side exposure which was a 3-story vacant.  My images are from about 45 minutes in.  Engine 38 was also pumping at Central Park and Congress and Tower Ladder 14 was working in sector “C”.
