Ayr Ontario firefighters were toned out for a house fire at 1221 Industrial road at 3:52 am on January 29. Cambridge dispatch advised responding units that the house was well involved and all occupants were out. Ayr Car 2 requested New Dundee and Box 690 Canteen while enroute. Ayr responded with two pumpers, two tankers, and their rescue.

Car 2 arrived on scene with heavy fire in the middle of the large bungalow. P4 pulled into the driveway of the house and stretched lines to the front and rear while P1 setup for relay pumping form port-a-tanks out on the road. Cambridge’s tanker was also requested at this time.

New Dundee Pump 21 setup at a nearby reservoir and filled tankers. The temperature was a frigid -35 F with light winds. The large bungalow had a shake roof. The fire quickly spread through the house. Kitchener’s tanker was requested as the fifth tanker. P1 froze up early in the fire. Cambridge’s tanker replaced the pumper until portable pumps could be set up to feed P4. By this point most of the tankers inlets were frozen and tankers had to be filled from the top. Command requested Kitchener P5 to the scene to act as the relay pumper. The pumper is fully enclosed and had no issues with freezing up. The fire was declared under control by 10:00. Damage was pegged at $700,000.

Firefighter-Paramedics saved a Live Oak Street home after a passerby reported flames coming from the structure at 21:53, Sunday evening 01-December. Colleton County (SC) Fire-Rescue arrived to find heavy fire conditions with flames through the roof on the “D” side of the structure. Engine 19 deployed two 1-3/4 handlines.  Crews forced entry through the front door and quickly located the fire. They spent approximately 10 minutes bringing the fire under control. It was contained to two rooms, saving the remainder of the single-story wood-frame dwelling. No one was at home when the fire occurred. The cause appears to be electrical in nature and started in the attic. Water supply was handled with tenders. Fire units were on the scene for 2-1/2 hours.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 12, Tender 19, Tender 27, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.

Jeff Rudolph submitted images from an overnight fire in Bristol, Wi which is just over the border from Illinois. The fire occurred in a two-story house in an area without hydrants, so multiple alarms were struck for water tenders. The fire began in the rear of the house, and the family inside was alerted by smoke detectors, but the fire had already climbed the house and was traveling in two directions along the soffit.

10/24/13 8325 184th Av. Bristol, WI Box 52-61 up to the 4th alarm.
