I was leaving Activa Arena August 14 at 22:00 and had just turned my radio on when I heard Kitchener dispatch calling P1. They advised the crew that they had a second call confirming a fully involved car fire at the Peter Hallman ball yard parking lot. The ball field is right across the street from the arena. The entrance to the parking lot is half a block from where I was. I arrived a couple of minutes ahead of the pumper. I confirmed with dispatch the car was fully involved and there were no exposures. There were a number of explosions from the tires, air bags and struts letting go so I stayed well back. The video is a little grainy due to the distance I stood from the fire. Note the strut exploding caught the firefighters attention just as he was getting ready to attack the fire. Also appeared to possibly be magnesium or some other reaction a little later in the video when the inside of the Dodge Journey lights up very white.

At 00:36, Wednesday morning 16-August, a passerby reported seeing flames coming from a residence in the 4000 block of Jefferies Highway, north of Walterboro, SC. The caller advised he could see fire coming from both sides of the roof. Colleton County Fire-Rescue Engine 19 arrived minutes later to find a single-story, wood structure approximately 50% involved.

Heavy fire conditions were found at the rear of the building, with two rooms already collapsed. The fire had already spread to the attic. Firefighter-paramedics deployed several handlines to combat the fire. A tender shuttle operation was initiated for water supply. Crews quickly stopped the spread of the fire at the rear of the structure, however the fire in the attic spread to the front of the building. Firefighters pulled the ceiling in the front rooms to extinguish the fire above those rooms, saving many of the belongings. The front rooms suffered smoke and water damage.

Units were on the scene for 4 hours. A cat and small dog are unaccounted for. Firefighters searched the building and the surrounding wooded area with thermal imagers, but could not located the animals. The family was out of town when the fire occurred. The cause is under investigation.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 1, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 110, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene and Captain John Schneider operated the Command Post.

Was on my way home from Monroe Wis at the fire school. Just passing Rockford, IL and the Clinton FPD (WI) pulled a Mabas Box Alarm for a house fire. Upon arrival they found heavy smoke pushing from the C&D corner, which was a back porch  right off the kitchen. The building was a 2 1/2-story, wood frame house about 30×50.

Being a balloon-frame, fire was already on floors 1 and 2 and in the attic. One firefighter and the state fire marshal were called to the scene. Tim Olk

Chicago FD Canteen 4-0-0 reported to the EFAO yesterday morning (8/10/17) around 4AM of (2), 2-sty frames going at 840 w 53rd Place. Canteen 4-0-2 was a block away at a SWAT call with CPD. Engine 49 arrived and went defensive on a 1.5-sty frame totally involved extending to a 2.5-sty frame to the west. Engine 50, in their new rig, was 2nd up and had numerous lines off. Companies had water problems and the box engines ended up dropping and feeding the attack engines from blocks away. Tower 39 really worked hard, taking the boards off most of the 2nd floor windows, making holes in the roof, and on the front of the building. Squad 5 was in the alley being fed by Engine 116. Towers 39 and 37 were both in spare tower ladders. I arrived after the 2-11, it was very over grown around both of the buildings.
