SAFD || STRUCTURE FIRE || 2016.10.29 || Shortly after noon, crews from the 8th battalion were dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the 400 blk of Henry St on the city’s northwest side.

As units were in route, SAFD Central Dispatch advised the companies that they were starting to receive multiple calls reporting that flames were visible from a house off of Henry St. Engine Co. 15 checked on scene at the corner of Henry St. and 18th St with “…. a single-story, single-family structure with moderate smoke and fire on the Charle side. We’ll be pulling a preconnect and command will be mobile …” Engine 15 held the fire to the rear of the structure while Engine 10 laid a supply line, and Truck 8 vented the structure. Crews remained on scene close to an hour and a half doing salvage and overhaul operations. No injuries were reported. Companies on the box were EN10, EN15, EN08, TK08, EMSC2, M08, MAC39, and BC08.

Detroit FD Central Office put out a Box @ Van Dyke and The Edsel Ford Service Drive.  Engine 41 stretched on a 2.5-sty-wood frame right off the off ramp of the highway. Companies attempted to make an interior attack, but Chief 9 had companies go defensive. Josh Boyajian

Tuesday (10/25/16), 2047 Cermak Rd. in Chicago. One-story restaurant with exposures to two similar. There was heavy fire in the rear of the building when companies arrived and the fire eventually consumed the entire building of origin, but due to solid brick walls between sides A and D the fire seemed confined to only one structure. This is normally a congested, densely populated neighborhood and the sidewalks are elevated, making the gangways 1/2-story below ground as well as allowing for some unusual basement access.TL 5, Squad 1, a multi-versal and a point of vantage line were used and heavy smoke conditions were present for well over an hour. This was an interesting job that yielded some nice images. The video as well as all the images can be seen here
