Here are some photos and a video of the 4-Alarm apartment fire in Oak Park, IL last week.

On 10-20-15 around 9:30PM Oak Park 620 pulled up on a 4-story apartment complex with fire blowing out the roof and requested a box alarm shortly after. Companies initiated an interior attack but were having water issues and had to pull out due to the fire volume being greater than the water volume. 620 requested a 2nd alarm and started to put truck companies, aerials, and master streams to work. Oak Park 631 was positioned on side A, River Forest 219 was on the A/B corner, Cicero Truck 2 was on the C side, Berwyn 904 was on the D side, and Chicago truck 29 was on the A/D corner working with water flowing. Companies had exposure problems on the C side, the original building had fire on all four floors.

The Oak Park (IL) Fire Department responded to a commercial garage for a fire and structural collapse on Tuesday afternoon (11-11-14) after a propane tank being removed from a truck exploded. The alarm was upgraded upon arrival to a 3rd alarm in addition to an EMS Box Alarm for worker injuries. The images below are from several sources.

This fire was about 0400 hours Sunday morning, near the intersection of Harrison & Clinton in Oak Park, IL. The original fire building, apparantly a 2-1/2 story frame was nothing but sticks when I arrived … totally consumed. The fire had a good hold in exposure 4 and pretty much burned the roof off of that, and was well into exposure 2 as well. The Oak Park tower operated as well as a deck gun and several hand lines. Berwyn set up their aerial pipe at the far end of the block, but to my surprise was able to hit the fire pretty well from that vantage point. Shot a lot of rigs. An interesting job to see in an area I don’t get to much.

Several photographers were at a massive warehouse fire at 1829 54th Avenue in Cicero, IL Tuesday evening. The fire started in a vacant, 3-story brick warehouse with possible squatters. The flames were fierce and quickly spread to the roof of an adjacent 1-story, occupied, commercial structure to the south. Temperatures went from 10 degrees down to 2 degrees with a windchill of -12. Companies encountered frozen hydrants and  limited water to supply all of the master streams.

Two tower ladders, one straight ladder, a TDA, a Snorkel, and a Rosenbauer/Metz platform were all flowing master streams in addition to at least one deck gun from an engine. After the 4th alarm, a task force was requested from a neighboring division with three engines and three more trucks. The Chicago Fire Department sent a ladder, a battalion chief, and then an engine and hose wagon to supply water from Chicago hydrants several blocks away.
