New Haven 2nd alarm 52 Ann St. dwelling fire.
05/13/23 New Haven, CT – Firefighters from the Hill section were met with a heavy smoke condition emanating from a two and a half story, private dwelling. Lines were quickly stretched, but firefighters were met with heavy heat and clutter conditions. They were unable to make any forward progress and reach the seat of the fire. The fire soon vented the basement windows and started to reach an auto and the first floor. Companies were briefly backed out so the fire could be darkened down from the outside. Additional lines were stretched to all floors as the fire began to extend due to the construction of the dwelling, and a second alarm was transmitted. Firefighters were able to transition back to the interior and open up to stop any further spread. It took about an hour to bring the fire under control. No one was injured. The cause is being investigated.

Waterloo (ON) P1, A1, P4 and Car 23 were dispatched to a house fire at 87 Bridge Street West December 17, 2017 at 05:05. Car 23 was advised callers were reporting lots of visible fire from the house under renovation. The platoon chief requested an additional pumper, P3 after hearing the report. Pump 4 arrived on scene and reported a fully involved house fire with exposure problems on side B and D. Aerial 1 was set up in front of the building for tower operations. P4 pulled multiple lines from their truck as well as a 4” feeder line to A1. Pump 4 officer reported he was unable to do a complete 360 due to high radiant heat. Two, four-inch lines were hooked up from a hydrant right beside P4 to feed their pumper. The roof and second floor collapsed into the basement approximately 20 minutes into the call. Firefighters were able to protect all exposures. A car on the B side of the fire had a cracked front window and slightly melted side mirror. Damage has been pegged at $500,000 and the Ontario Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate the suspicious fire. Box 690 on scene providing rehab on this cold night, temperature was 12 F. Photos taken 25 minutes into the fire.

A resident called the Buffalo Grove Fire Department (IL) for a fire in the attached garage around 2AM on Friday (5/6/16). Arlington Heights Engine 4 was the first to arrive as the address was very close to their station. They reported a full involved house and hit the garage with their deck gun before deploying a handline. Buffalo Grove Tower 25 arrived perhaps a minute later and deployed a second line. The bulk of the fire was knocked down within minutes as I arrived very shortly thereafter.

The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire after Engine 4 arrived, and then a Box Alarm was requested for additional manpower. The fire was kept from extending into the house.

The residents were outside when firefighters arrived.
