The Green Bay Metro Fire Dept. says the fire at Smitty’s Salvage Yard, 2325 Main St., started outside and since spread to the building. The building that started on fire had tires in it. 30 fire departments from as far as Pulaski and Manitowoc County assisted at the scene. The fire was caused during the removal of a vehicle gas tank; gas leaking from the tank caught fire. This was an accidental fire.  One firefighter sustained minor injuries.

Sunday afternoon (4/12/15) the Green Bay Metro Fire Department (WI) was working to put out a large grass fire near the Ken Euers Nature Area in Brown County.

The fire was on the north end of Military Avenue and north of I-43 near the bay. The area is mostly a park and wildlife sanctuary with some industrial businesses. No homes were affected.

Anyone stopping on I-43 to watch the fire was subject to being cited by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
