Cambridge, Ontario Pump 1, Aerial 2, Tanker 1, Rescue 1, and Car 6 were dispatched for a house fire at 6571 Ellis Road November 27 2017 at 2:30. A smoke detector alerted the resident who was able to get out safely with his dog. Cambridge covers this portion of Wellington County under contract. A2 arrived on scene reporting a fully involved bungalow with no exposures. A2 pulled into the driveway and pulled multiple lines. Puslinch fire was dispatched to the scene once Cambridge reported the working fire.

Port-a-tanks were set up on the road and water was relayed into A2. Puslinch responded with two pumpers, two tankers, a 75’ quint, and a heavy rescue. Two additional tankers were requested from Rockwood fire. Water was shuttled from a hydrant in Cambridge approximately a mile and a half from the scene. Firefighters worked for over an hour to knock the fire down.

Photos were taken 40 minutes into the incident. Box 690 provided rehab. This was the second time in a week that we had back to back serious fires. This was our third fire in less than 12 hours having done a kitchen fire in Waterloo the previous afternoon, and a Wellesley fire later in the evening.

An Estates Drive home, north of Walterboro, was heavily damaged in an early morning fire, Tuesday 21-February. At 00:46, Colleton 9-1-1 operators received several reports of smoke and flames coming from a residence located at 468 Estates Drive. An off-duty firefighter who lives one block away arrived a minute later and reported flames through the roof with approximately 50% of the home involved.

Colleton County (SC) Engine 19 arrived minutes later and used the deck gun to knock down a large portion of the flames. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed three 1-3/4 handlines to combat the fire, which appears to have started in a bedroom on the southside of the structure before spreading to the attic. The homeowner was in the building and noticed smoke in the hallway and he was able to safely exit the residence. Firefighters gained control of the fire within 10 minutes stopping the advance of the flames, but approximately ¾ of the roof was burned away. The bedroom where the fire originated was also heavily damaged, but many items were salvageable in the remainder of the home. Fire crews were on the scene for two hours. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a space heater, but an investigation is ongoing.

Engine 19, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 109 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.

Colleton County (SC) Fire-Rescue units were sent to 304 Carolina Circle north of Walterboro, Wednesday morning 16-November at 03:02. Engine 19 arrived to find a single-story residential dwelling with flames visible from the roof. All occupants had safely exited the structure. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to combat the fire which was burning throughout the attic. Crews pulled the ceilings in several rooms to reach the flames. It appeared the fire originated in the chimney and spread to the attic. The electrical service line burned through and fell from the home. When the power went off, the occupants were awakened and discovered the fire which had already burned through a portion of the roof and they alerted 9-1-1.

Firefighters worked for about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, but were on the scene for three hours. Most of the fire damage was contained to the attic and roof, however the remainder of the home suffered water and smoke damage. Many personal items were saved. Water supply was handled with Tenders.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 107, Car 110 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.

While units were still on the scene of a structure fire on Poplar Street, Colleton County (SC) Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a second structure fire one block away at 301 Edgewood Street. Firefighters at the Poplar Street incident were still performing overhaul and breaking down lines when this fire was dispatched.

Tender 26 was able to leave the Poplar Street incident and drive around the corner while additional units were also responding. Tender 26 found a single-story, block residence fully involved. The 3000-gallon E-One tender is equipped for firefighting operations. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to combat the blaze and had the bulk of the fire knocked down within 15 minutes, but were on the scene for two hours.

Tender 19 supplied water to Tender 26. Three engines responded, but only needed to standby and supply hand tools.  The home was vacant and did not have power connected. Due to the close proximity to the other fire and the suspicious nature of the origin, the Sheriff’s Office and State Police (SLED) Arson Unit were contacted to assist with the investigation. SLED sent two agents to the scene. The building remained standing, but suffered heavy damage.

A Poplar Street home was destroyed in an early morning fire Friday 27-December. At 02:55, Colleton County (SC) Fire-Rescue was notified of the house with flames coming out of the windows. Engine 19 arrived minutes later to find the single-story wood-frame residential dwelling fully-involved, with flames 40 feet in the air. An unattached, two-story garage behind the home was threatened. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines and one 2-1/2 handline to combat the fire. Engine 19 attempted to use a deck gun, but was not effective reaching the building due to trees in the yard. A second alarm was issued 20 minutes into the incident for additional personnel and tenders.

The roof over the center of the structure collapsed shortly after arrival. Water supply was conducted with a tender shuttle. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.  The home was a rental property and was not occupied, however it did have power connected. The building was heavily damaged and almost completely destroyed. The separate garage was not damaged.

While crews were finishing overhaul operations, a second, well-involved structure fire one block from this residence was reported. Tender 26 was able to be freed from this scene, responded to the other fire and began firefighting efforts. Due to the close proximity and the suspicious nature of the fires, the Sheriff’s Office and State Police (SLED) Arson Unit were contacted to assist with the investigation.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 1, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
