Here are some images from a double fatal still & box fire back on February 28th at 8642 S. Hermitage in Chicago. The fire was well advanced before the first companies landed on the scene but an aggressive interior attack and search efforts were initiated despite those conditions. Sadly, two victims were located during the primary search. Both were transported and pronounced at local hospitals.

Chicago Fatal 2-11 Apartment Fire: At about ten minutes to 9:00 this morning, Chicago’s Main Fire Alarm Office gave a working fire response followed by a Still & Box Alarm to Hutchinson and Cicero. The fire was in a third floor apartment that was part of a 3-story, U-shaped courtyard building. The fire extended into the cockloft and was elevated to a 2-11. Shortly afterward the fire was brought under control. Unfortunately, there was a fatality with this incident.

Last night (9/25/15), the EFAO put out a Still & Box Alarm at 51st and Carpenter. Engine 50 arrived to find a 2.5-sty, wood-frame with heavy smoke showing. They lead out two lines and Truck 18 went to the roof. Due to the amount of fire in the attic and with the stair wells burned out, companies were pulled out and went defensive until the bulk of the fire was knocked down. Unfortunately, companies found a victim in the attic after the fire was out. Here are a few shots, my whole gallery is HERE
