On 3/26/2020, Weymouth Fire Alarm (Massachusetts) dispatched companies to a reported building fire at the old Weymouth Naval Air Station. Upon arrival, companies had heavy fire showing from multiple buildings in what were the barracks. Multiple defensive lines were run and two ladder pipes were put into operation. Eventually a second alarm was struck, bringing mutual aid from Quincy, Braintree, and Hingham to the scene.

12/05/15 Belleville, NJ – The second house fire in a week destroyed another dwelling in Belleville. Police officers arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from the second floor. They started evacuating the occupants of the first floor as firefighters arrived. The fire gained considerable headway as firefighters prepared to battle the blaze prompting transmission of multiple alarms for mutual aid. The second floor soon became fully involved as multiple hand lines and master streams worked to darken down the fire. Firefighters also used three ladder pipes to help bring the blaze under control around twelve thirty. Two families were left homeless, but no one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighter-Paramedics saved a Live Oak Street home after a passerby reported flames coming from the structure at 21:53, Sunday evening 01-December. Colleton County (SC) Fire-Rescue arrived to find heavy fire conditions with flames through the roof on the “D” side of the structure. Engine 19 deployed two 1-3/4 handlines.  Crews forced entry through the front door and quickly located the fire. They spent approximately 10 minutes bringing the fire under control. It was contained to two rooms, saving the remainder of the single-story wood-frame dwelling. No one was at home when the fire occurred. The cause appears to be electrical in nature and started in the attic. Water supply was handled with tenders. Fire units were on the scene for 2-1/2 hours.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 12, Tender 19, Tender 27, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.

In November of 2008, I had the good fortune to be able to travel to southern California during a period of wildland and urban interface fires. Over the course of two days, there were a series of three different fires that occurred in near proximity to each other. They were dubbed the Brea, Yorba Linda, and Carbon Canyon fires in Orange County. As the winds moved the fires, the boundaries of each became blurred, and they expanded into each other. This new combination of the fires was named the Freeway Complex Fire … also at some point the Triangle Complex Fire.

Images here are from what was originally the Brea fire, shot at the end of a cul-de-sac where two engine companies had taken defensive positions to protect the homes on this block from the fire that was traveling along the ridge line. One engine was from Brea and the other was Santa Ana. There were homes in a canyon behind this area that was too dangerous for companies to enter, and subsequently those homes were destroyed.
