This box was a fully-involved vacant at Hampton and Wayburne with no real exposures. They allowed the roof to burn off then hit it with the ladder pipe. Pretty typical job.

These shots are from 2735 Hooker. A fully-involved, vacant dwelling with a severe exposure problem to a two-flat. It still amazes me how well they keep the exposures protected with just a small hand line … usually only from the front. A ladder pipe was setup and this was over pretty quickly.

E42 returning from a fire down the street came across this vacant 4-flat apartment building going throughout. E42 asked for the Box sending E40, L17 and S5. Chief 2 responded in place of Chief 5, who was still at the other fire. An additional engine for manpower was called for. A defensive posture was taken, and exposures where covered. The fire eventualy spread to the roof of a vacant 2-story house in sector B, but was quickly extinguished. The original fire building collapsed, and crews where able to extinguish the remaining fire, followed by extensive overhaul.
