The Sheboygan Fire Department battled a fast-moving house fire Tuesday, January 26th on the city’s south side.

The fire was reported just before 7 PM at 1427 Indiana Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke from the house and located the fire on the “B” side of the home, just four feet from a neighboring home. The intense heat and smoke from the fire kept firefighters from fighting the fire from the inside, resulting in an exterior attack. Fire also broke through the roof. It took firefighters about four hours to control the fire.

Firefighters from the Kohler Fire Department and Town of Wilson Fire Department assisted at the scene.

This was the first of two house fires in Sheboygan County. The second house fire was reported two hours later at 9 PM in Sheboygan Falls which turned fatal.
