Sunday (2/25) was an intensely windy day in the Chicago area which made for difficult firefighting conditions. The second 2-11 alarm for Chicago on this day was at 88th Street and Commercial Avenue and started in a pizza parlor that had occupied that address since the 1950’s. The fire was reported to have started in the rear of the structure and heavy winds blowing across from the west quickly escalated the incident. Eric Haak

Here are a few images from the 2-11 at 25th and Sacramento this afternoon in Chicago (1/30/19). Companies made an aggressive interior attack and went defensive as I was walking up. The first image was taken only a couple minutes after the companies evacuated the building and it appeared conditions deteriorated rapidly.

Chicago Fatal 2-11 Apartment Fire: At about ten minutes to 9:00 this morning, Chicago’s Main Fire Alarm Office gave a working fire response followed by a Still & Box Alarm to Hutchinson and Cicero. The fire was in a third floor apartment that was part of a 3-story, U-shaped courtyard building. The fire extended into the cockloft and was elevated to a 2-11. Shortly afterward the fire was brought under control. Unfortunately, there was a fatality with this incident.

Chicago had a 2-11 Alarm fire at 6417 N Ravenswood this afternoon (12/22). The fire was in a 1-story commercial structure and was contained mostly to the 75×75 rear section that had a truss roof. The fire eventually burned through the roof and Tower Ladder 23 and the new Tower Ladder 21 were used to bring the fire under control.

This from Eric Haak:

At a little after 0300 Sunday morning (12/23), Engine 101 landed with a fire in a 1-story, 65×100 truss roof trucking company at 74th and Bell Avenue. Battalion 20 boxed the fire less than a minute later and it would eventually be raised to a 2-11 Alarm. The building was a total loss. Engines 101, 15, 123, and 54 were all pumping at this incident and Tower Ladders 39 and 54 along with Squad 5’s Snorkel were in use as well.
