SAFD || WORKING HOUSE FIRE || Late into the night, (11/20/16) at approx. 2145hrs, San Antonio FD companies were dispatched to the 2800 blk of Whisper View St on the city’s north side for a reported  structure fire. Engine Company 37 checked on scene with

“… really heavy, thick black smoke coming from the attic and garage. The homeowners are saying the fire’s in the garage. We’ll be pulling our preconnect. Command will be mobile.”

A working fire was declared bringing in a medic unit, EMS officer, and a mobile air compressor unit. Companies made quick work in the garage and attic utilizing every preconnect off of 37’s wagon, as well as both of their red lines. Early on during the fire, there were concerns for the companies inside as one of the preconnects had a significant hole in it.

Everyone that was home at the time of the incident made it out safely. Units stayed on scene for well over an hour and a half overhauling and getting their rigs back in service. Companies on the Box were EN37, EN31, EN43, TK37, M37, EMSO[spare], FSO, BC05, and MAC41.

Kitchener (ON) dispatch received multiple calls for shipping containers on fire at the rear of Sci-lab Material Testing at Beasley and Trillium Drive November 22. Pump 6 reported they had a black thermal column from a few blocks away. The initial report was the trailer on fire contained dust, and a second trailer contained diesel fuel. P6 firefighters pulled a 1.5” line to attack the fully involved trailer. The fire was knocked down in a couple of minutes. All shots taken approximately 10 minutes after the fire was knocked down. Box 690 provided rehab.

As submissions appear rather slow lately, I thought I’d share a few images from a fire that occurred 10 years ago during Thanksgiving week at 2517 W. Devon Avenue in Chicago.
